Drink Drive Pub

I've been to a pub in South Yorkshire to find out more about how many alcoholic drinks you're allowed to have before you go over the drink driving limit...the answer is, nobody knows as we all react differently to alcohol. It's a serious issue for everyone as Government data estimates that last year there were 410 collisions and 20 deaths caused by drink drivers in Yorkshire and the Humber.

Powerlifters

It was really inspiring filming with three teenage boys from Rotherham who are doing great things in the sport of Powerlifting. Greg, Oli and Sam say lifting weights has made them more disciplined, better people. I went along to film one of their training sessions, in a packed gym in Swinton.

Lulu Charity Film

I've been back to film another story about the life of Lulu Blundell, a 19-year-old from Rotherham who died of cancer at home on New Year's Day last year. I first filmed a story with Lulu's family last year, a few weeks after she passed away. Now a film about her has been shortlisted for a national award. The film is really powerful and is made up of videos from Lulu’s social media accounts.

Yusuf

The family of a five-year-old boy from Rotherham who died after being sent home from hospital have rejected a report which found his care was appropriate. Yusuf Mahmud Nazir died in November last year, eight days after he was seen at Rotherham General Hospital and sent home with antibiotics. A report into his care was commissioned after his family claimed he should have been admitted to hospital.

Bradley Lowery court case

A Sheffield Wednesday fan who used a photo of Bradley Lowery to taunt opposition supporters has admitted a public order offence. Dale Houghton was pictured laughing as he brandished the image of the six-year-old during a match against Sunderland - the team Bradley supported before he died of cancer in 2017.

Exams Resume

GCSE and A Level exams got underway in full this week for the first time in three years. Unlike last year, students have not been given advance information about the topics they're likely to be tested on. The regulator Ofqual says the disruption caused by Covid will still be taken into account in the grades that are awarded - but some students are worried that they've been unfairly affected by the virus and, more recently, strike action.

83 yr old gym goer

George Sagar has had 400,000 views on one of his TikTok videos and he wants to encourage other older people to get active. It was on BBC Look North and on BBC Breakfast...

Free School Meals

The families of school children in Rotherham who are entitled to free school meals will get supermarket vouchers to buy food during summer holidays. They'll be worth fifteen pounds per week per child. The number of children in Rotherham who qualify for means-tested free school meals has risen more than a third to nearly twelve thousand children since the start of the pandemic. It was an eye-opening experience to speak to teachers and parents at Badsley Primary School in Rotherham to see how the cost of living crisis is impacting on families.

Rotherham United Wembley

I had the great pleasure of reporting on Rotherham United's EFL Trophy win at Wembley on Sunday - my first time working at the national stadium. It was a really exciting match - the Millers were seconds away from losing the final when they turned the tie. This is my first report on the final which went out on the Sunday night. I can't upload the my pkg which went out on Monday's Look North as it includes match footage which Sky Sports has the copyright of.
