Lizzie Deignan Retiring

One of Britain's most successful road cyclists, Lizzie Deignan, will retire at the end of next season. It was really good to have the opportunity to interview Lizzie about her incredible career.

Tour de France 10 year anniversary

I've had a thoroughly enjoyable time reminiscing about the Tour de France coming to Yorkshire. Incredibly it's 10 years since the Grand Départ took place here. We filmed with a Tour Maker who volunteered at the race, a cafe owner who capitalised on it being staged in Yorkshire and two cyclists who are about to race at the highest level after being inspired by the Tour.

Cycling Scared

I had a week working for our digital team and filmed and edited this story for the BBC News website, Facebook and Twitter. It's a story I feel passionate about as I am a cyclist in Sheffield and relate to what Ann is saying...

Jacob Scott

There's another Yorkshire star emerging in the sport of road cycling. Holmfirth's Jacob Scott won both the Sprint and King of the Mountains jerseys at the Tour of Britain. He’s only the fourth rider to do that in the race’s history. I went to see him in training and at work.

Tour de Yorkshire Cancelled

This week I covered the big story about the Tour de Yorkshire bike race being cancelled. As a passionate cycling fan I was keen to report on this story and used my contacts to arrange interviews with people who are involved in the race.

Lizzy & Lizzie riding for GB

I made a preview of the women's road race at the cycling World Championships. Two Yorkshire Lizzies were competing for Great Britain - Lizzie Deignan from Otley and Lizzy Banks from Sheffield. Deignan finished in 6th and Banks in 63rd.

Yorkshire Road World Championships

I filmed in North Yorkshire during the men's elite road race at the UCI World Championships. I've never experienced so much rain over one whole day. Sadly it meant some communities who'd planned big events to celebrate the arrival of the race missed-out as the race route had to be changed for safety reasons. I love cycling and it was a pleasure to work on the race regardless of the awful weather.

Lizzy Banks

The pinnacle of the UCI World Championships took place this weekend. The GB women's team was lead by the former World Champion Lizzie Deignan from Otley who finished in 31st place. Also in the GB team was Lizzy Banks from Sheffield who's had a meteoric rise to the top of women's cycling. I went to see her at home and on the bike...

Gabz Cullaigh

Yorkshire cyclist Gabz Cullaigh has signed for World Tour team Movistar. The 23 year old from Holmfirth has been given a two year contract and will be competing at the most prestigious races in the world. I've been to see Gabz at home in Yorkshire and competing at the Tour of Britain in Gateshead. Shooting cycling stories always takes a long time to be able to get all the shots you need to be able to make a report. Gabz was friendly, relaxed and patient with us which made filming with him a pleasure.

Ikea Bike

I've learnt that Ikea in Sheffield was supposed to build a half mile bike lane outside the store but because the planning approval conditions were so poorly written by the council they were unenforceable. Campaigners are calling for the Swedish company to install the cycling infrastructure regardless, but Ikea says it's not going to.

Tour de Yorkshire Police Motorbikes

I spent the day filming with the police motorbike team as they enforced the rolling road closure at the Tour de Yorkshire last week. I joined them at the start of the women's race in Barnsley and jumped out at the stage finish in Bedale to edit the story I'd just filmed. I've covered many bike races over the years but never had the opportunity to see how the police keep the riders and spectators safe. It was a fascinating experience.

Team INEOS

I had a bizarre experience this week covering the launch of new cycling team, INEOS. They organised for a group to be taken on a coach to an unnamed location in Yorkshire Dales in their attempt to avoid anti-fracking protesters. Environmental campaigners protested during the Tour de Yorkshire because INEOS is a plastic producing fracking company owned by Britain's richest man, Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Harry Tanfield

I had the challenge this week of filming a cycling story on my own. It's not at all easy as you constantly having to navigate in the car, overtake the group of riders, park safely, film a shot then repeat! I was in Harrogate to film a feature on the first Yorkshireman to win a stage at the Tour de Yorkshire, Harry Tanfield. He now rides with one of the best teams in the world, Katusha Alpecin.

UCI Road World Championships

It's seven months until the UCI Road World Championships come to Yorkshire. The county will be showcased to the world as the global TV audience is expected to be around 300 million viewers. Members of the organising committee from last year's race in Austria have been here to give their advice on how to host a successful race.

Cyclist

We were contacted by a man from Rotherham who was told by doctors he might never walk again after being knocked off his bike. He's just cycled from one side of the country to the other to thank NHS staff who helped save his leg. I was really keen to tell his inspiring story.

Triathlon Fundraiser

I've been filming a story about a group of lads taking on a triathlon for the first time to pay tribute to their good friend who died on a stag do. Sean Leonard passed away in Berlin in March last year. It's thought he had an epileptic fit. I filmed the report using my normal JVC camera and a GoPro camera which I attached to the lads as they trained to try to show their efforts from a different angle.

Holdsworth Pro Racing

My cameraman colleague Gareth and I have been out filming with the first professional cycling team from Yorkshire. Rotherham-based Holdsworth Pro Racing were invited to take part in the Tour de Yorkshire and I went to see their recce of one of the four stages.

It's a real challenge to film as you keep having to overtake the riders to get more shots - and I needed a lot of material as I wanted to use music to illustrate the story, not just my words.

Tour de Yorkshire

Yorkshire is set to host another world class bike race, following the success of the Tour de France Grand Depart four years ago and the Tour de Yorkshire. The news of the Vuelta a Espana comes a day after the end of the Tour de Yorkshire where an estimated 2.6 million people lined the route. Meanwhile cycling team Astana says they are "deeply sorry" after their team car almost hit a volunteer during the race.

Women's Cycling

In the build up to the Tour de Yorkshire I've been out reporting on the growing number of women cycling. The number riding at the Bradford club Queensbury Queens has more than doubled in the last year. I really enjoyed meeting the women from the club and putting this piece together.

Bikes Vandalised

Perhaps it was inevitable that I'd be doing a follow-up story on Sheffield's hire bikes being treated badly. Police have said they will refuse to collect any more of the city's new shared Ofo bikes which have been dumped and vandalised. Manor and Arbourthorne Neighbourhood Police Team said on Facebook: "Bike shepherding isn't in our job description." Here's my live and report on Look North.

And this is my report for our lunch bulletin.
