Chris Marriott jury out

The jury has retired to consider its verdicts of a man accused of killing a father of two who went to  help an injured woman lying in the road in South Yorkshire. Sheffield Crown Court has heard how Chris Marriott got caught up in a wedding feud between two families in the Burngreave area of the city.  Hassan Jhangur denies murder or manslaughter.

Chris Marriott Trial Defence

A man accused of murdering a 'Good Samaritan' who was run over in Sheffield as he stopped to help a stranger has told a court he "felt like a monster" and mistakenly thought it was his mother and sister he had killed. Chris Marriott got caught up in a wedding feud between two families and was killed on 27th December last year in the Burngreave area of the city. Hassan Jhangur is accused of murder or manslaughter and denies the charges.

Makenna-Rose Thackray Inquest

An inquest has heard how a four-year-old girl died within days of leaving A&E in Wakefield, after a fruitless six-hour wait to be seen by a doctor. Makenna-Rose Thackray, from Rothwell died in 2022. Her father said he believed there were "missed opportunities" to save his daughter's life.

Tour de France 10 year anniversary

I've had a thoroughly enjoyable time reminiscing about the Tour de France coming to Yorkshire. Incredibly it's 10 years since the Grand Départ took place here. We filmed with a Tour Maker who volunteered at the race, a cafe owner who capitalised on it being staged in Yorkshire and two cyclists who are about to race at the highest level after being inspired by the Tour.
