Sheffield Trees

Trees are a big issue in Sheffield. There are more per person than any other city in Europe. The council has got a contractor checking the 36,000 trees that are by the side of the road to see if they're diseased or create an obstruction.

Nowhere has the plans to chop down and replace trees been more controversial than next to Endcliffe Park where more than 2,000 people have signed a petition against the plan. The eleven lime trees on Rustlings Road date back to the Victorian era but, over time, have made the pavement uneven, making them a trip hazard...
